NSN.- The Congress Theatre threatened with closure for building violations can stay open, for now.
After the City of Chicago filed a motion two weeks ago for a preliminary injunction to shut down the theater because of several violations a compromise will allow it to remain open until a new court order.
The theater will not be allowed to sell any more tickets and will reduce its first floor occupancy from about 4,500 people to 3,000. The second and third floors will remain closed.
The theatre owner has agreed to keep an unobstructed path of movement and provide two license guards at all shows.
