Soccer fields also flooded

Las Ladies
The “Ladies” won 3-2 against Las Estrellas in another exciting women’s final of the Liga America.

NSN-Bad luck hit soccer leagues that wanted to start their 2013 summer activities last weekend. Mother Nature thwarted their good wishes with heavy rains that left 90% of parks in bad conditions, with the exception of synthetic fields.

But the Liga Brianna’s de Veteranos held their winter 2013 finals where Independente was crowned as champion in the O/30 category after the 8-1 thrashing of Tinguindín. In the O/40 category, Atletico Nacional won 3-2 against Allende in a close matchup that had class and strong soccer worthy of a final in this category.

The Liga America also put an end to their winter tournament. Olimpico won 4-2 against the Gladiadores in the U-14 category. In U-12, the Leones Negros took the crown after winning 5-1 against the Pitufos. And in one of the best matches of the tournament, in the U-16 category, Necaxa beat the Piratas with an unexpected goal by Carlos Vázquez with only 20 seconds left in the match.

Another excellent final was the match in the U-12 “A” category, in which Ocotlán won 2-1 against Olimpico. In U-6, the Fire surprisingly thumped the Republic 4-0. In U-10, Republic sought to avenge the defeat of the previous match, however, Tapatio beat them 3 goals to 0. Still, in U-8, Republic finally managed to win a match, 6-0 Pirates.

The matches for adult and women categories also began with the Brujos defeating La Franja 4-2; and the Guerreros Jrs. beat Lagos 4-3. In the women’s category, Barcelona defeated Galaxie in a tight 3 goals to 2; and Ladies beat Estrellas 3-2. In the major divisions, the Muppets beat La Coruna 4-2, but both teams really provided a match worthy of a final of this category.
